Results of the year 2018 in nuclear energy industry give a reason for optimism, BelTA learned from Denis Moskvin, member of the Economic Policy, Industry, Innovative Development, and Entrepreneurship Committee of the State Duma of Russia.

The MP noted that Russian nuclear power plants are about to hit a new record high – about 204 billion kWh of electricity generated per annum. The higher output means the taxable base will be larger and, respectively, state budget revenues will be higher. The fourth unit of the Rostov nuclear power plant has been commissioned as well as the first unit of the second Leningrad nuclear power plant. In his words, the floating nuclear power plant Akademik Lomonosov is now on its way to its permanent station. It was moved from Baltic Shipyard Company to Atomflot in Murmansk in April where nuclear fuel was loaded into it and both reactors were turned on. Dock trials began after that. The trials will last till March 2019. After that the floating nuclear power plant will be towed to its permanent station on Chukotka Peninsula. It is a very promising project for power generation in remote territories, noted Denis Moskvin.
