Experts: Nuclear energy will make inroads into global energy mix

The share of nuclear energy in the global energy mix will increase. The statement was made by scientists and experts taking part in the 6th international forum AtomExpo 2014 that concluded in Moscow on 10 June, BelTA has learned.

According to Russian and foreign specialists, the competitive advantage of nuclear energy is its production cost. During the forum heads of Russian and foreign nuclear energy companies discussed development prospects and competitiveness of nuclear energy.

According to head of the Russian state corporation Rosatom Sergei Kiriyenko, nuclear energy is particularly relevant for the world’s fastest growing economies. These countries took an active part in the forum. Among them were Argentina, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Turkey, Finland and South Africa.

Taking part in AtomExpo 2014 were about 3,550 delegates from 600 organizations, including 283 foreign companies. Over 40 countries were represented.

The most important outcomes of the forum were signing of a memorandum on establishing a nuclear energy information center in Belarus and a memorandum of cooperation between the merged company NIAEP-ASE and IBM.
