Finnish expert: Nuclear energy is cleaner than others
27.05.2014
Nuclear energy is cleaner than other kinds of power generation, BelTA learned from Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority of Finland (STUK) Kim Soderling.
“Nuclear energy is the energy of the future. Nuclear power generation offers cheap, reliable, clean, and safe energy. There are four operating nuclear power plants in Finland and a fifth one is under construction. Nuclear power plants generate one third of Finland’s entire energy. The other two thirds are covered by hydropower plants and cogeneration plants. In my opinion it demonstrates the competitive ability of nuclear power generation,” said the Finnish expert.
The competitive ability of nuclear power engineering in comparison with other kinds of energy generation will be the central theme of the specialized roundtable session during the 6th international forum AtomExpo 2014. Taking part in the discussion will be representatives of the World Nuclear Association (WNA), the Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission of France (CEA), the nuclear branch of the company Rolls Royce, the press service of AtomExpo (Russia) told BelTA.
AtomExpo 2014 will take place in Moscow on 9-11 June. The event has been organized by the Russian state nuclear industry corporation Rosatom.
