The International Atomic Energy Agency will enhance cooperation with Russia, IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano said after attending the Russian exposition during the 61st session of the IAEA General Conference in Vienna, BelTA has learned.
“Russia is a very important partner of the IAEA in all aspects. The country is a very active member of the nuclear community and is a recognized leader in fast reactors. The IAEA will continue to cooperate with Russia and bolster ties in nuclear energy,” Yukiya Amano said.
The Russian exhibition features advanced technology of the Rosatom State Corporation. Rosatom General Director Aleksei Likhachev thanked Yukiya Amano and the IAEA for the support of nuclear energy development technology. “We aim to overcome energy poverty, the lack of access to energy in many countries, and make electricity generation more environmentally friendly. Most of our developments are aimed to address this dual task (to increase power generation while improving its environmental performance). Another important factor is the environmental feasibility of these projects,” Aleksei Likhachev said.
