NPP may give South Africa cheap and safe energy

Rosatom is a unique company providing the whole complex of NPP construction and operation services, Dmitry Kumanovsky, the head of the Analytical Department at the LMS Investment Company (Russia), told media, BelTA informs.
“Rosatom is ready to finance an NPP project or even to become its shareholder - something that technology suppliers seldom do. Rosatom has already worked in South Africa, when in 1995 it enriched uranium for the local Koeberg NPP. South Africa is quickly developing and is actively attracting foreign investments for its growth. So, it needs cheap energy to be able to competitive and to host the productions that are being removed from developed countries or even from China because of high labor costs. South Africa’s energy sector is based on coal. China’s example has shown that coal is a deadlock as it is bad for nature. In contrast, NPP may give South Africa cheap and environmentally safe electric energy, while Rosatom, as a company that already has experience of work in that country, may offer it a competitive reference solution”, expert underlined.
