Rosatom’s foreign contracts seen as “safety net” for many Russian enterprises
15.12.2014
Russia and India have signed a general framework agreement and a contract to supply basic equipment for the third and fourth power units of the Kudankulam nuclear power plant. The agreement was signed during a visit of the Russian delegation headed by Russian President Vladimir Putin to India. With this agreement, Rosatom’s overseas order intake has amounted to $100.3 billion for the next 10 years.
Vladimir Potsiapun, the chairman of the subcommittee on legislative support of nuclear energy use of the energy committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation:
Rosatom’s portfolio of foreign contracts for the next decade has reached the mark of $100 billion, and this commands respect and makes us proud, said Vladimir Potsiapun, the chairman of the subcommittee on legislative support of nuclear energy use of the energy committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, BelTA has learned.
Nuclear industry is one of the few high-tech sectors of the Russian economy that can compete in the global market, showing impressive results. Foreign contracts are a kind of a "safety net" for many Russian enterprises, particularly in the case of an economic slowdown.
Rosatom’s foreign partners see with their own eyes how effective the Russian nuclear industry is: in recent years Rosatom has built the Bushehr nuclear power plant, the first and second units of Tianwan and Kudankulam NPPs, the third unit of Rostov NPP which was built ahead of schedule and under budget.
Today the Russian nuclear industry is known for the ability to work efficiently and effectively, to improve skills and broaden scientific and technical knowledge, and to expand the presence of Russian nuclear technology in foreign markets.
