State Standardization Committee, Russian Energy Ministry to consider options to build boiler houses

MINSK, 6 June (BelTA) – The State Standardization Committee of Belarus and the Russian Energy Ministry signed a memorandum of understanding during the 27th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum for the sake of considering the possibility of construction and reconstruction of boiler houses powered by locally available kinds of fuel in Belarus, the Energy Efficiency Department of the State Standardization Committee of Belarus told BelTA.

The Russian Energy Ministry was represented by Deputy Energy Minister Sergei Mochalnikov. The State Standardization Committee of Belarus was represented by the committee’s Deputy Chairman, Director of the Energy Efficiency Department Vitaly Kretsky. The goal of the signed memorandum is to consider the possibility of construction and reconstruction of boiler houses powered by locally available kinds of fuel in Belarus and consequently sign an intergovernmental agreement on getting Russian loans for this purpose.

Apart from that, Vitaly Kretsky took part in the roundtable session “The Union State: 25 years of integration - results and new challenges” at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. Participants of the meeting discussed results of fulfillment of designated tasks, identified priorities in key directions in 2024-2026, analyzed the spheres that require bigger concentration of efforts, and pointed out advantages of the format of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in comparison with other associations.

By the way, representatives of 130 countries are taking part in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) this year. This year’s forum’s theme is the formation of new areas of growth as the cornerstone of a multipolar world. The SPIEF’s business program includes over 150 domain-specific panel sessions.

Vitaly Kretsky also had a working meeting with the director of the Leningrad Oblast center for energy saving and energy efficiency Yulia Tsytsarova. Priorities of advancing cooperation in energy saving, efforts to improve energy efficiency, and use renewable energy were outlined during the meeting. The executives also discussed possible participation of Russian experts in the panel session “Experience of construction of energy sources powered by wooden fuel” that will take place as part of the 12th international economic forum Innovations, Investments, Perspectives in Vitebsk on 27-30 June within the framework of the 11th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia.
