All Belarus’ regions to join e-School project by 2017

25.08.2015
All regions of Belarus will join the e-School project by 2017, Belarusian Education Minister Mikhail Zhuravkov told journalists, BelTA has learned.

“The project is already running in several regions of Belarus. We expect that most schools of the country will get involved in it by 2017,” Mikhail Zhuravkov noted.

The pilot project e-School was launched in Minsk in 2013. Partaking in it were 12 educational establishments. Later they were joined by another three schools. The ministry expects that all Minsk schools will join the project in the course of 2016.

The project provides for the introduction of online services such as e-register, e-school diary, and e-timetable. Besides, every child gets a student card that also performs the functions of a payment card. As many as 9,700 school children already use such cards.

The cards allow parents to monitor their child’s expenditures and the time of his/her arrival at and departure from school. The ministry also has plans to develop an application to control the transportation of school children by public transport.
