Azerbaijan ready to ink agreement to buy Belarusian satellite images

Belarus and Azerbaijan have agreed to sign the agreement on cooperation on using the data sent by the Belarusian space satellite, the press service of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus told BelTA.
The draft agreement has been prepared and submitted for consideration of the Azerbaijani side. All the legal procedures will be finished in May. Azerbaijan is interested in getting the satellite data for the sake of ecological control and mapmaking. Sergei Zolotoi, Director of the R&D enterprise Geoinformation Systems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, said that in the near future satellite data will also be sold to the Russian Forestry Ministry, Southeastern Asia countries.
The second Belarusian-Azerbaijani business forum in the sphere of information and communication technologies took place in the National Library of Belarus on 24 April. Delivering the report on the Belarusian space system for the remote sensing of the Earth Chief Engineer of Geoinformation Systems Oleg Semenov outlined the state and prospects of the development of the Belarusian space system for the remote sensing of the Earth. The work of Belarusian scientists met interest of Azerbaijan representatives, said the source.
