Beijing-Brest high speed railway connection discussed in Minsk

The prospects for a high-speed railway connection Beijing-Moscow-Minsk-Brest were discussed at the meeting between Vice Premier of Belarus Anatoly Tozik and a delegation of China Railway Engineering Corporation CREC, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian government.

The parties discussed possible areas of cooperation in the railway sector. Among those was the construction of a railway in the Polesie region, infrastructure modernization for increasing the speed of the railway transport, and the organization of a high-speed railway connection Beijing-Moscow-Minsk-Brest with an entry to the Western European countries. “The projects envisage the joint participation of the Belarusian, Russian, and Chinese railways,” the press service said.

The parties agreed to look into the issue of signing an agreement between the Belarusian Railways and China Railway Engineering Corporation CREC on long-term cooperation in railway transport and also an opportunity to launch the production of special equipment at the China-Belarus Industrial Park.
