Belarus, Bangladesh considering high-tech joint ventures

Belarus and Bangladesh plan to advance cooperation in priority areas of science and technology, BelTA learned from representatives of the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus after the first session of the Belarusian-Bangladeshi commission that took place in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

According to the source, Belarus and Bangladesh intend to advance mutually beneficial cooperation in the spheres of science, technology, and innovations, including by means of setting up high-tech joint ventures in the economic branches both countries prioritize such as healthcare and pharmaceutics, microbiology, information and communication technologies.

While in Bangladesh the Belarusian delegation led by the Committee’s Deputy Chairman Piotr Baltrukovich visited several institutions and organizations, including the national biotechnology institute, the national institute for chemical metrology, and University of Dhaka. The sides discussed prospects of advancing cooperation between universities, academies of sciences, and research institutions of the two countries and also talked over interaction in training top-qualification personnel.

Apart from that, the idea of setting up pre-university courses for Bangladeshi applicants at premises of the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics was discussed. The sides also talked over the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus and University of Dhaka. Participants of the session agreed to consider the possibility of arranging joint researches and to cooperate in the area of education and student exchange programs.

As a result of the commission’s work the sides signed a number of documents, including a program for Belarus-Bangladesh cooperation in science and technologies in 2015-2016.
