Belarus, Bulgaria to advance cooperation in biotechnologies, space technologies

Belarus and Bulgaria intend to advance cooperation in biotechnologies and space technologies. The mutual interest was expressed by Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov and President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Stefan Vodenicharov during the meeting in Minsk on 14 April, BelTA has learned.

Vladimir Gusakov mentioned great prospects for advancing cooperation between Bulgarian and Belarusian scientists. In his opinion, they should have common projects and should share the best practices more often. Vladimir Gusakov told media that he also intended to suggest advancing interaction in agribusiness, mechanical engineering, materials science, chemistry, and pharmaceutics.

In turn, Stefan Vodenicharov showed interest in such areas of cooperation with Belarusian scientists as metalworking and food industry. The President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences was convinced that there are great prospects for work for the scientists of the two countries. Stefan Vodenicharov invited Vladimir Gusakov and a delegation of Belarusian scientists to visit Sofia soon in order to get familiar with accomplishments of Bulgarian scientists.

During the visit to Belarus on 14-16 April Stefan Vodenicharov also went to a number of scientific divisions of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. He pointed out that Belarusian scientists pay close attention to applied research and approved of this approach since it allows faster recoupment of government investments. Top administrators of the Belarusian and Bulgarian academies of sciences held negotiations in Minsk on 14 April. A protocol to the agreement on scientific cooperation in 2016-2018 was signed.
