Belarus and Germany have agreed to take steps to boost bilateral cooperation in information and communication technologies, biotechnologies, new materials, and power engineering. Chairman of the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus Alexander Shumilin and Ambassador of Germany to Belarus Peter Dettmar agreed on the matter on 26 November, BelTA learned from the press service of the State Science and Technology Committee.
The parties expressed interest in bolstering bilateral ties not only in research but also in the development of innovative and high-tech projects. “Apart from expanding our scientific cooperation, we would like to learn from Germany’s experience in marketing new solutions and products and fostering innovative entrepreneurship,” Alexander Shumilin noted.
For his part, Peter Dettmar said that the Belarusian-German scientific and innovation cooperation does not meet the potential and that the parties have many points of contact to enhance it, including in the energy industry.
The press service noted that Germany is Belarus’ leading partner in international sci-tech cooperation. The regulatory framework of cooperation features the treaty on large-scale cooperation in economy, industry, science and technology signed in 1993, and a series of the documents which were concluded on its basis.
