Belarus, Lithuania agree on cooperation in medicine

Belarus and Lithuania have talked over cooperation in medicine during the visit of a delegation of the Healthcare Ministry of Belarus led by First Deputy Healthcare Minister Dmitry Pinevich to Lithuania, BelTA learnt from the Belarusian embassy in Vilnius.
The trip took place on the initiative of the Lithuanian side. The Belarusian delegation took part in the event to introduce an eHealth system in Lithuania. Dmitry Pinevich also held talks with Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius.
The Healthcare Ministry of Lithuania played host to the talks with Minister Rimante Salaseviciute. The parties discussed cooperation prospects between the two countries and praised the ministerial agreement on cooperation signed during the 68th session of the World Health Assembly. Rimante Salaseviciute stressed Lithuania’s interest in strengthening cooperation with Belarus in healthcare. The parties also discussed the opportunities for treating Lithuanian citizens in the Belarusian National Hospital of Speleo Therapy. They agreed to organize a visit for Lithuanian pulmonologists to Soligorsk.
During the visit the Belarusian delegation presented information on Belarus’ pharmaceutical opportunities, studied the main areas of medical development in Lithuania, including a cluster system of medical centers. The Belarusian delegation visited Kaunas clinics of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, the Santariskiu clinic of the Vilnius University and the Tulpes sanatorium in Birstonas.
