12.04.2013
Belarus is mulling over its possible participation in the four technology platforms (TP) of Russia: Environmental Development Technology, Bioenergy, Medicine of the Future, Bioindustry and Bioresources – BioTech 2030, BelTA learnt from spokesman for the State Science and Technology Committee Yuri Lukashevich.

The issue was discussed in a meeting of the Eurasian Economic Commission’s task group on the preparation and implementation of interstate programs in the Single Economic Space. Attending the meeting was Chairman of the State Science and Technology Committee Igor Voitov. In his words, joining the Russian technology platforms will help integrate research activities, expand opportunities for efficient commercialization of technologies.

“Benefits from participation in the technology platforms are clear for us: Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan will be engaged in joint high-tech and innovative projects, which will be implemented in domestic and foreign markets,” said Igor Voitov. He also noted that in the near future it is necessary to determine the scientific and technological priorities and create regulatory and financial instruments to support international projects.

On behalf of Belarus, the meeting of the Eurasian Economic Commission was attended by representatives of the State Committee on Science and Technology, ministries of healthcare, education, forestry, natural resources and environment protection, the National Academy of Sciences.

According to experts, in the European Union the technology platforms have become an effective instrument for the development of innovations in the industry. This experience has served as an example for the creation of technology platforms in Russia, which have already passed the initial stage of development. Coordinators and participants of the platforms are Roscosmos, Rosatom, Russian Academy of Sciences, Rostelecom, Rostechnology, and others. All in all, Russia has created about 40 technology platforms.
