Belarus, Pakistan consider ways to expand sci-tech cooperation

MINSK, 10 August (BelTA) – Minsk is playing host to the first meeting of the joint Belarusian-Pakistani commission on cooperation in science and technology, BelTA learnt from the press service of the State Science and Technology Committee.
“The agenda of the meeting comprises about 10 issues, including the expansion of sci-tech cooperation in the development and production of modern micro and nano-electronic devices, cooperation in geologic exploration, joint Belarusian-Pakistani scientific events (conferences, seminars and exhibitions),” the committee said.
The Belarusian part of the commission is led by First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Science and Technology Andrei Kosovsky. The Pakistani delegation is headed by Rector of the COMSATS Institute of Information Technology Dr. Syed Muhammad Junaid Zaidi. The parties are also planning to discuss the priority areas of cooperation between the Belarusian and Pakistani academic institutions. "It is expected that scientists will work on joint projects in the field of production of agricultural machinery for the mining and construction industries, and also the projects to develop functional food technology and assess the status and use of natural resources," the press service noted.
The commission will conclude its work on 11 August.
