Belarus-Russia union program on engineering analysis in development

06.05.2015
Scientists of Belarus and Russia are busy developing a new program of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in the field of engineering analysis, BelTA learned from Sergei Chizhik, First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, during the press conference held on 6 May to highlight the opening of the Belarusian industrial forum Industrial Integration in the Eurasian Economic Union.

The official said: “We are now actively discussing a new Union State program in the field of engineering analysis. We are strongly dependent on import in this area for now.” Engineering software will be developed within the framework of the program. “It is necessary to create our own software product that will be independent from external interference,” stressed the scientist.

“Now both Belarus and Russia are focused on import substitution. I would like to specifically mention the research products that lead to integration. For instance, our Joint Mechanical Engineering Institute together with the Siberian department of the Russian Academy of Sciences is designing transportation for the Far North. We are ready to use our testing ground that has been created at premises of the Institute to test automobiles not only for Belarus but also vehicles of our neighbors, primarily Russia,” explained Sergei Chizhik.

The First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus underlined that the Academy has always been an active participant of the Belarusian industrial forum and this year’s event is no exception. “I think we occupy the largest booth of 120m2. Twenty organizations of ours will participate, with 122 innovative products represented,” he specified.

The Belarusian industrial forum Industrial Integration in the Eurasian Economic Union is scheduled to take place in Minsk on 12-15 May. It will gather over 220 organizations, R&D companies, and foreign partners. The forum is meant to give a serious impulse to the effort to further improve the competitive ability of Belarusian products on the home market and foreign ones and to the innovation-driven development of the economy.
