The State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus and the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission signed an agreement on cooperation, BelTA learnt from the press service of the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus.
“Chairman of the State Science and Technology Committee Alexander Shumilin and Deputy Chairman of the Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission Xu Zisin signed an agreement on mutual understanding and cooperation. The document envisages cooperation in various areas of scientific activity of mutual interest and scientific events such as forums, symposiums and conferences,” the press service said.
According to the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus, the Belarusian-Chinese cooperation in science and technology has a long history, lasting since the 1990s when Belarus and China established diplomatic relations. “This shows that sci-tech cooperation has played one of the key roles in the mutual relations of the two countries from the very start,” the press service stressed.
“Under the sci-tech cooperation program for 2015-2016 we are currently implementing over 20 joint sci-tech projects in the power sector, new materials, photoelectronics, laser equipment, agriculture and biotechnologies, IT. The majority of these projects envisage commercialization of the results with possible joint production of high-tech goods,” the committee said.
Belarus and China have also intensified cooperation in the competition on joint sci-tech projects. In February 2016 the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus and the Ministry of Science and Technology of China announced a competition, with more than 40 joint projects currently undergoing state expertise. The list of projects will be approved in Minsk in June 2016.
The visit of the delegation of the Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission to Belarus will be over on 26 March. The program of the visit includes meetings and talks with representatives of establishments of higher education and industrial companies such as Belkommunmash.
