Scientists of Belarus and Siberia are discussing the possibility of implementing joint innovation projects, Chief of Staff of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Piotr Vityaz told BelTA in Novosibirsk.
“We have been long cooperating with the Siberian Office of the Russian Academy of Sciences. We hold various contests, implement joint projects - a total of about 100 sci-tech projects in various areas, including catalysis, medicine, energy conservation, and many more. At present we are gradually moving from purely scientific to integration and innovation projects to set up new companies and win the market,” the academician said.
In Novosibirsk the Belarusian Academy of Sciences took part in the Belarusian national exhibition. The expo featured Belarusian scientific projects with the main focus on the agrarian sector (seed selection, their storage and processing; machine systems; new variety breeding). Belarusian scientists also demonstrated their developments in medicine and instrument engineering. Transport logistics and barcoding went on display for the first time.
Speaking about the opportunities to expand cooperation, Piotr Vityaz noted: “We would like to develop earth remote sensing. We have a satellite, Russians have it too. There will be enough work for both taking into account the territory of Siberia. We have projects and offer cooperation.” According to the academician, Siberian counterparts have already showed their interest in cooperation.
The Belarusian national exhibition was held as part of Belarus days in Siberia (19-23 October). It has been the biggest demonstration of the national engineering, agricultural, chemical, construction, IT and regional potential since Belarus established relations with the Siberian regions. The exhibition featured over 100 Belarusian companies, including MTZ, MAZ, BelAZ, Amkodor, Gomselmash, Gomeldrev, Pinskdrev Holding Company and others.
