The Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Korea have plans to expand cooperation in the field of information and communication technologies, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Information Technologies and Communications Ministry.

To this end, the Belarusian Information Technologies and Communications Ministry and the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning of Korea are set to sign a memorandum of understanding. The document will be concluded during the visit of the Minister of Science, ICT and Future Planning of Korea Choi Yanghee to Belarus on 24 September 2014. The Department for Information Technologies of Belarus and the National Information Society Agency of Korea will also sign a memorandum to boost cooperation in the field of ICT.

Belarusian and Korean specialists will take part in the Belarus-Korea business forum to discuss cooperation in ICT and software development.

Choi Yanghee will attend a solemn opening ceremony of the Information Access Center established at the Hi-Tech Park with assistance of the National Information Society Agency of Korea. The center is designed to facilitate the implementation of ICT projects and boost innovative entrepreneurship in Belarus.

The Belarusian Information Technologies and Communications Ministry noted that the visit of Minister of Science, ICT and Future Planning of Korea Choi Yanghee will be the first visit of a member of the Korean Cabinet to Belarus in the history of the bilateral relations. “The visit is essential for promoting practical cooperation in ICT and for raising Korean FDI in order to set up high-tech joint ventures in Belarus,” the ministry added.
