MINSK, 1 March (BelTA) – Areas of activity of the Russian state nuclear industry corporation Rosatom are of strong interest for Belarus. Sergei Shlychkov met with Kirill Komarov, Rosatom First Deputy Director General for Corporate Development and International Business. The sides discussed avenues of cooperation between Belarusian organizations and Rosatom. Possibilities for the implementation of joint projects were discussed.

According to Sergei Shlychkov, a number of Belarusian organizations have a lot of experience in the many spheres Rosatom's representative mentioned. The fact opens up new opportunities for the realization of joint projects.

The chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of Belarus also remarked that the implementation of R&D programs of the Union State of Belarus and Russia represents one of the forms for realizing Belarusian-Russian initiatives for the development and manufacturing of new kinds of high-tech products. Government agencies and other organizations of Belarus and Russia with the competences and authority for placing government orders, including Russian state corporations, can act as customers of such programs. For instance, seven Union State programs in the area of space industry have been implemented with the state corporation Rosatom acting as their customer.

Sergei Shlychkov also noted that the Union State Council of Ministers' resolution No.19 of 14 September 2022 amended the procedure for working out and realizing Union State programs. In particular, the stage for working out a program concept draft was scrapped. The measure will substantially reduce the time needed to develop and reconcile new programs.

The Belarusian delegation is in Moscow on a visit on 28 February – 3 March. While in Moscow members of the delegation are expected to meet with top officials and get familiar with projects of AO Rusatom Infrastructure Solutions, AO Rusatom Greenway, AO TVEL, the Research Institute of Technical Physics and Automation (NIITFA), the Federal Environmental Operator, and Rusatom International Network.
