The new space program of Belarus envisages the development of space communication, BelTA learned from Alexander Tuzikov, Director General of the United Informatics Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, during the Internet video briefing held to highlight the new stage in the development of Belarus' space industry.
“The new space program is not limited to remote sensing as it was before. It includes more avenues for the development of the space industry. The development of space communication in Belarus will become one of the priorities,” he explained.
According to Alexander Tuzikov, an innovative project to launch a Belarusian communication satellite is being implemented in the country. “The project will contribute to the development of technologies, including those relating to the expansion of channels and volumes of possible digital television broadcasts,” said the Director General of the United Informatics Institute.
Apart from that, the new program will include the development of the navigation system and navigation and time services of Belarus, personnel training, and legislation for the space industry.
The Council of Ministers of Belarus is now reviewing the concept of the new space program.
