Belarus to implement joint projects with IBM, Microsoft

Belarusian Premier Mikhail Myasnikovich discussed the prospects of implementing big IT projects in Belarus with the management of IBM and Microsoft companies during his visit to the United States, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian head of government paid a visit to one of the IBM plants that produces hardware components for computers and various electronic devices, including mobile phones.

According to Director of the Hi-Tech Park Administration Valery Tsepkalo, agreements have been reached with IBM regarding the Hi-Tech Park and Integral Company. “IBM representatives are expected to visit Integral next week. The U.S. corporation expressed readiness to launch the production of microcircuits with its technology and know-how at the Belarusian company. That means Integral will master a new product lineup under the company’s license,” Valery Tsepkalo noted.

Moreover, IBM shows interest in developing cooperation with the Hi-Tech Park in software development. “There are companies in the park that develop software on IBM orders and work jointly with the company for the third-country markets offering software solutions to concrete needs of clients. It is made in different economic and management areas: from transport and logistics to banking,” the director of the Hi-Tech Park Administration noted.

At the meeting with representatives of Microsoft Company there were discussed promising cooperation areas in education and training of specialists, protection of intellectual property rights and measures to improve practices in the area.

The company suggested suing its experience and knowledge in the implementation of the e-government development program. It is expected that in October Belarus will welcome a group of Microsoft experts that will offer their solutions in providing electronic services to individuals and business.
