Belarus’ top historical, cultural legacy objects in 3D

The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus will create a map of the country that will feature 3D models of the top historical and cultural legacy objects. The map will be created by 2016, BelTA learned from Alexander Lokotko, Director of the NASB’s Belarusian Culture, Language, and Literature Studies Center, on 16 May.
The Center and the United Informatics Institute are working to create the map that will feature 3D models of Belarus’ historical and cultural legacy objects. The map is supposed to come in handy for protection and restoration business, tourism, government agencies that are supposed to keep the historical objects safe.
The map will be available online and in addition to places of interest will offer other kinds of entertaining information. According to Alexander Lokotko, the website will offer layouts of buildings, 3D models of building groups that can be explored from the outside and the inside, historical facts, recommendations for preserving the monuments.
Plans have been made to create references in the future to regional websites and the websites dedicated to the largest groups of buildings where visitors will be able to get familiar with Belarus’ historical and cultural legacy in detail, said the Director of the Center. The website will be available in Russian, Belarusian, and English by 2016.
