A number of agreements in trade, economic, credit, investment, scientific and technical spheres were reached during the ongoing working visit of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko to the United Arab Emirates, BelTA has learned.

The fulfillment of the agreements will allow considerably increasing Belarus-UAE trade turnover and implementing projects involving UAE capital in Belarus.

In particular, the sides reached an agreement to set up a MAZ dealership in the UAE as part of the previously signed contracts for the delivery of automobiles. The dealership will include a maintenance station, a spare parts warehouse, and a permanently open showroom. Negotiations were held with a UAE investor, who is interested in setting up a manufacturing cluster in the China-Belarus Industrial Park, with the investments estimated at $170 million. Terms for using money of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development to implement long-term infrastructure projects in Belarus were also determined.

Belarusian organizations, which are involved in space research, held negotiations with the UAE Space Agency and the UAE Science and Technology Institute for the sake of establishing cooperation in the area of space research.

Apart from that, the sides coordinated measures for preparing and holding a Belarusian-Emirati scientific symposium and an exhibition of Belarus’ scientific and technical potential in Abu Dhabi in December.
