Belarus wins five medals at International Mathematical Olympiad

Belarusian students have clinched five medals at the 55th International Mathematical Olympiad that was held in Cape Town, South Africa, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Education Ministry.

Student of Minsk Gymnasium No. 41 Dmitry Bobrov won the gold medal, the eleventh-grade student of the Lyceum of the Belarusian State University (BSU) Roman Marchenko won the silver medal and the tenth-grade student of the lyceum Valentin Vityaz received the bronze. Bronze medals were also given to student of Minsk Gymnasium No. 41 Svyatoslav Borodachev and student of Minsk Gymnasium No. 29 Dmitry Voinov. Alexei Gaponenko from Minsk Gymnasium No. 41 got an honorable mention.

The Belarusian team was coached by Associate Professor of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of the Belarusian State University Igor Voronovich.

Taking part in the competition were 560 school students from 101 countries worldwide.
