Belarusian cosmonaut to carry out complicated research program

28.04.2022
MINSK, 28 April (BelTA) – A complicated research program is being prepared for the Belarusian cosmonaut, BelTA learned from Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov.

Vladimir Gusakov said: “Candidates for the space flight are being selected among Belarusians. Apart from that, a complicated research program, which the cosmonaut will have to carry out, is being prepared. I am talking about biotechnologies, medicine, and agrarian technologies.”

In his words, Belarusian scientists have to modernize and develop Belarusian technologies. “Instead of our satellite with two-meter resolution we are going to launch a satellite with submetric resolution (0.35cm), which will boast enhanced capabilities. The demand for such imagery is obvious. A number of our enterprises have remarked upon it,” Vladimir Gusakov noted. “It is particularly important for the Emergencies Ministry, the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry, and the Forestry Ministry to see all the details from outer space in order to promptly track what is going on in the forests.”

Apart from that, new R&D products will allow promptly receiving data and managing software and business processes on the ground.
