Belarusian project in final stage of Skolkovo's Startup Village

A project by a Belarusian developer has reached the final stage of the Startup Village contest arranged by the Russian innovation center Skolkovo, the press service of the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus told BelTA.

According to the source, Innovative Plant Turbosphere by the Belarusian developer Kirill Levkov has been named the best project in the Energy-Effective Technologies track. The project is meant to design a new type of plant for recycling secondary energy resources, namely the energy that excessive pressure of natural gas represents.

BelTA has been told that the project was submitted on behalf of the Russian company OOO Turboenergy, which is registered in Skolkovo, for the sake of getting a grant from the Skolkovo Foundation. A project presented by OOO Flamma, a resident of the Minsk City Technopark, also attracted the attention of the expert community and Russian investors. The Belarusian company came up with equipment to convert solid fuel into flammable gas (gas generators). The equipment's development continues for the sake of further promotion, said the press service.

There are plans to send the most promising and talented young Belarusians to Skolkovo in June-July 2015 for the sake of future interaction and cooperation with the Russian innovation center. The Belarusians will take part in events of the summer school Open University Skolkovo. As part of the event young professors and researchers will get cutting-edge knowledge regarding the commercialization of scientific research and innovative business technologies from Russian and foreign specialists.

Representatives of the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus reminded that one of the stages of the all-Russian startup tour of the Skolkovo Foundation took place in Minsk in 2015. About 900 applications were submitted for participation in events of the Belarusian stage, including 250 applications for presenting projects divided into five areas: information technologies, biological and medical technologies, energy-effective technologies, industrial technologies and materials, innovations for kids. As many as 73 projects were shortlisted, but only 15 ones were allowed to proceed into consequent stages of the startup event in the Russian innovation center Skolkovo.
