Belarusian Railways to switch to e-document management in domestic shipments

02.02.2015
Belarusian Railways is set to completely switch to the use of electronic document management in the organization of cargo transportation within the country, BelTA learned from the press service of Belarusian Railways.

“This year we will switch to paperless cargo transportation and will start using a digital signature in our work with clients. All the necessary conditions have been created,” the press service noted.

In 2014 Belarusian Railways made it possible for shipping companies to send in electronic versions of the applications for freight transportation, car spotting schedules, cargo registration cards, and acceptance operator’s records. “The electronic documents are processed with the help of the Digital Transportation system developed by the Data Protection Center of Belarusian Railways,” the press service explained.

All the cargo stations involved in trade and shipment activities are connected to the Digital Transportation system. “The Sitnitsa station has achieved the best results in the implementation of paperless transportation technologies. The station processes most of the documents using the digital signature. The Baranovichi station also widely uses the system of electronic document management. The stations Zhlobin and Tsentrolit are also actively implementing modern technologies in their work. They were the first to start paperless transportation of international cargoes,” the press service of Belarusian Railways said.

As many as 276 Belarusian companies currently use the Digital Transportation system for the organization of rail cargo transportation.
