Belarusian, Russian scientists ready to develop replacements for Western industrial software

24.11.2015
Belarusian and Russian scientists are ready to develop software for the production sector to replace Western-made solutions. The relevant statement was made during the expert and media forum and seminar “Development vectors of the scientific environment in the Union State. New ideas and people” in Moscow on 24 November, BelTA has learned.

According to Alexander Tuzikov, Director General of the United Informatics Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, scientists have already worked out the concept of the Union State program on information technologies and supercomputer modelling for industrial enterprises.

Alexander Tuzikov noted that the assimilation of information technologies in all spheres of work of industrial enterprises is an acute problem, which resolution will determine the overall success of the Belarusian and Russian economies. “We witnessed an industrial revolution when blueprint drawing was replaced with computer modelling. Such models contain all the information about a product,” he explained.

Such computer models require robust hardware as well as the relevant software. The global market now takes a dim view of the products that do not have digital documents. The development of industrial informatics is prioritized as a national interest in all the developed nations, stressed Alexander Tuzikov. He remarked that at present all the computer modelling at Belarusian and Russian enterprises is done using foreign software products.

In turn, Vladimir Nelyub, Director of the Russian interindustry engineering center at the N.E. Bauman Moscow State Technical University, said that the sanctions enforced by Western countries against Russia had hindered the access of a number of defense enterprises to Western software. This is why the suggested Union State program has a lot of appeal.

The expert and media forum and seminar “Development vectors of the scientific environment in the Union State. New ideas and people” is scheduled to take place in Moscow on 24-25 November. The purpose of the event is to discuss the most topical matters in scientific cooperation between Belarus and Russia and to draw attention to the information component in developing Belarusian and Russian science.

Taking part in the forum were State Secretary of the Union State of Belarus and Russia Grigory Rapota, Consul Ambassador of the Embassy of Belarus in Russia Pavel Legky, and Chief of Staff of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Piotr Vityaz. Apart from that, the forum gathered representatives of the Permanent Committee of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, the relevant ministries and government agencies of Belarus and Russia, top scientific and education institutions of the two countries, the people in charge of supervising Union State programs and projects, heads of mass media, and public figures.

A presentation of Union State projects, which are created on the basis of high technologies, research products of Belarusian and Russian scientists in the area of space healthcare, new-generation medications, also took place as part of the forum.
