Belarusian, Russian scientists working to improve security of banking data transfers
26.11.2015
Belarusian and Russian scientists are working together to improve the security of data transfers in the banking system, BelTA learned from Academician Nikolai Aseyev, Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, President of the Siberian division of the Russian Academy of Sciences, before the joint session of the presidiums of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Siberian division of the Russian Academy of Sciences on 26 November.
Nikolai Aseyev said: “Together with Belarusian colleagues we are developing the area relating to high-level quantum physics. It offers absolutely secure data transfer channels. They are necessary not only for military communications but also for 100% secure data transfer in the banking industry and the financial sphere.”
The scientist also mentioned laser ranging systems, which are important for ecology, controlling atmospheric composition, and predicting weather phenomena. Research products developed for the defense industry have been advanced as well. The creation of medications and substances to make medications are high on the agenda. There are also some ideas concerning agriculture and food security.
According to Nikolai Aseyev, methods to harden (wear resistance, increased reliability) materials used by the mechanical engineering industry represent one of the most important accomplishments of scientists.
In turn, Vladimir Gusakov, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, remarked that interaction between scientists takes various forms. There are projects, in which every side does its own part, while results are combined to make common conclusions. And there are projects, which are worked on together from the very start.
Now over 30 fundamental research projects are in progress, there are three joint labs. The results will be owned by both sides, explained Vladimir Gusakov. Thus, scientists of the Siberian division of the Russian Academy of Sciences have the right to transfer and assimilate R&D products at Russian enterprises while Belarusian scientists can do the same with regard to Belarusian enterprises.
During the joint session of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Siberian division of the Russian Academy of Sciences the Belarusian and Russian scientists are supposed to discuss the state of affairs and promising ways of advancing R&D cooperation between organizations of Belarus and the Siberian Federal District, scientific cooperation within the framework of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, and the implementation of integration projects of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Siberian division of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The discussions will focus on Russian-Belarusian cooperation in the area of oil industry and forest chemistry technologies, innovative bioengineering, genetics and cytology, joint development of technologies for advanced peat processing for various branches of the national economy.
