Belarusians win medals at 6th International Tournament of Young Mathematicians

The team of Belarusian students won a first-degree diploma and gold medals at the 6th International Tournament of Young Mathematicians (ITYM) in Germany’s Bremen, BelTA learned from the press center of the Education Ministry.

Belarus’ national team comprised students of the BSU Lyceum Anton Voronko, Dmitry Rumyantsev, Anton Shemyakov and Sergei Shemyakov, students of Minsk gymnasium No. 41 Nikolai Prokhorov and Boris Serenkov. The Belarusian students shared the prize with the team of France.

The team was led by assistant professors of the BSU applied mathematics and informatics department Maxim Vaskovsky, Igor Bodyagin and students of this department Yaroslav Zadvorny and Alexander Mikhalchenko.

Partaking in the competition were teams of Belarus, Bulgaria, Germany, Iran, Nepal, Russia, Romania, Ukraine and France.

The international jury included representatives of the BSU applied mathematics and informatics department Boris Zadvorny, Boris Dubrov and Yaroslav Zadvorny.

The ITYM is a team competition for high school students from all over the world. The official language of the competition is English.
