Belavia gets second Boeing 737-800NG

24.04.2015

Another Boeing 737-800NG has been added to the aircraft fleet of the Belarusian national airline Belavia, the company's press service told BelTA.

“Thanks to the aircraft out-of-range the airline will be able to launch regular flights between Minsk and Almaty from 29 April 2015,” specialists noted. The jet that can seat 189 passengers has been purchased on a five-year operating leasing under the contract with ALC Company.

“In summer we plan to use Boeing 737-800NG on the most popular routes, including to Barcelona, Larnaca, Milan, and Rome. Apart from Morocco, we plan charter flights to Antalya, Izmir, Thessaloniki and other popular resorts,” the press service cited Belavia Director General Anatoly Gusarov as saying.

The first Boeing 737-800 was delivered to Minsk on 23 January 2015. The Belarusian air carrier purchased the aircraft on a 6-year operating leasing. The jet operates flights to Astana, Ashkhabad and Tel Aviv.

Belavia is the largest air carrier in Belarus by the number of passengers and cargoes it transports. In January 2014 the Belarusian airline acquired a legal status of an open joint stock company. Belavia operates 27 aircraft. In Q1 2015 the airline carried nearly 295,500 passengers (up 9.3% as against January-March 2014).
