Better Wi-Fi coverage for IIHF WC 2014 venues in Minsk
17.02.2014
The hardware used to provide Internet access via Wi-Fi at the main venues of the world ice hockey championship in Minsk will be upgraded, BelTA learned from Beltelecom Director General Sergei Popkov on 17 February.
Internet access upgrade efforts are in the final stage in the sport venues (Minsk Arena, Chizhovka Arena, training ice hockey rinks), in hotels and the student village. More powerful equipment will be installed in these locations. The same applies to cafes, restaurants, other places where tourists are expected en masse, including near large screens that will broadcast the games.
“We are not considering free wireless Internet access in these locations. Free Internet access may be available for reporters in press centers. It is up for restaurants, hotels, and cafes to determine terms of use for wireless Internet access,” noted the Beltelecom Director General.
