Breakthrough early cancer detection product from Belarusian scientists

15.02.2016
Scientists from the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR) have developed a new method to detect early-stage cancer tumors, the BSUIR press service told BelTA.

According to the source, the new product is a miniature matrix made of porous silicon. The analysis procedure requires only special equipment and a drop of blood or tears or a drop of sweat. The results are available after three hours. For now such a test takes one week. Powered by nanotechnologies, the test solution can be used for diagnosing virtually all kinds of cancer. The test product can also be used to learn how medications exit human body. Moreover, the breakthrough product can diagnose Alzheimer’s in patients as young as 40 years old.

The silicon matrix costs only €1. By spending money once on buying the equipment it is possible to greatly reduce test costs, added the press service of the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics.

The nano product is already used in Russia and Italy for scientific research.
