BSU students discover burial dating back 4,500 years

28.07.2014
Students of the History Department of the Belarusian State University (BSU) have unearthed a burial dating back 4,500 years, BelTA learnt from the press service of the university.

Items dating back to the second half of the 3rd millennia BC were unearthed during an archeological dig near the village of Drozdy, Stolbtsy District, Minsk Oblast. Among them were a clay pot, two axes (one from stone and the other one from silicone), two knives, and a bundle of arrows (only arrow-heads have survived). The participants of the expedition assumed that the items were buried together with a body that was burnt and placed in a 1x2m pit.

Professor of the sub-department of archeology and special historical sciences of the History Department of the BSU Alexandra Zuyeva noted that it is impossible to remove the pot from the earth now, because it can crack.
