BSU wins St. Petersburg Technical Fair Grand Prix

The project of Belarusian State University (BSU) has won the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg Technical Fair, BelTA learnt from the BSU press service.

A special project of the Research Institute for Physicochemical Problems under Belarusian State University got the Grand Prix in the nomination, Successful Market Promotion of the Product, at the competition on the best innovation project and the development project of the year. The competition was held on 12-14 March as part of St. Petersburg Technical Fair.

The BSU project includes a set of technologies of electrochemical and chemical precipitation of various coatings. The technology is used to add protective functional properties to details made of various metals, for instance, aluminum and its alloys, copper and its alloys, kovar, steel, titanium and wolfram, and receive protective holography. “There have already been presented several new variants of the technology: polycrystal and amorphous coatings. The implementation of such a technological process does not need cardinal re-equipment. The BSU Institute for Physicochemical Problems used its own development to set up a low-tonnage and limited production run at its basis. Besides, production was also launched at the basis of twenty more companies of Belarus, Russia and Korea,” the press service noted.

Apart from the main prize of St. Petersburg Technical Fair Belarusian State University has bagged six gold, 13 silver medals and two diplomas this year.
