CIS states to unite efforts against IT threats

The CIS agreement on cooperation in information security, which ratification is to be considered by the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus on 24 June, will be aimed at uniting the efforts of the CIS member states against the threats of using information and communication technologies for unlawful purposes, BelTA learnt from Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives’ permanent commission on human rights, national relations and mass media Oksana Nekhaichik.

Under the document, the parties work out and implement interstate programs on information security. The agreement envisages the streamlining of data sharing in the sector.

The document also stipulates the development of interstate standards on information security that would meet the same standards of international level. The agreement envisages an opportunity to develop protected IT systems, cross-border sharing of information and joint efforts to prevent information leaks.
