CIS to develop interstate standards in information security

The Belarusian senators approved the ratification of the agreement on cooperation in the CIS in the field of information security, BelTA has learned.

The document was signed in St. Petersburg on 20 November 2013 and provides for the joint and coordinated measures to ensure information security in the CIS countries.

The CIS countries are planning to approximate normative legal acts, develop standards, establish secure information systems of various application purposes, organize cross-border transmission of information, and improve the protection of information systems and technology resources from potential and real threats.

The upper house also approved the ratification of the protocol amending the agreement on the rules of determining the origin of goods in the CIS as of 20 November 2009.

The protocol was signed with the aim to ensure the free trade zone in the CIS, promote the conditions for the free movement of goods and simplify the procedure for confirmation of their origin.

The bulk of the additions to the rules apply to the regulation on the establishment of the electronic system of certification of origin of goods, which sets out the fundamental principles for the establishment and functioning of the system.
