16.10.2014
The largest laboratory in the Commonwealth of Independent States to assess the energy effectiveness of products will be set up in Belarus, BelTA learned from Chairman of the State Standardization Committee of Belarus Viktor Nazarenko during the 5th international conference on energy saving, ways to enhance energy effectiveness, and topical avenues and practical experience of saving energy in residential homes on 16 October. The conference took place as part of the 19th Belarusian Energy and Ecology Forum in Minsk.
Viktor Nazarenko said: “There are already several test labs in Belarus that offer energy effectiveness assessment services at extremely steep prices. As part of the joint project of Belarus and the European Union an energy effectiveness lab will be created in the country to become one of the most up-to-date labs in the CIS and possibly in the European Union”.
The lab is supposed to use premises of the Belarusian State Standardization and Certification Institute. The European Commission has allocated virtually €4 million for the lab to get testing equipment. Belarus will make its own contribution, too.
The 19th Belarusian Energy and Ecology Forum is scheduled to take place in Minsk on 14-17 October in line with the relevant instruction of the prime minister of Belarus. The forum includes the international specialized expo Energy. Ecology. Energy Saving. Electro (EnergyExpo 2014), the 9th international specialized expo Water and Air Technologies, the 10th specialized exhibition of lighting equipment ExpoLight, and the 19th Belarusian Energy and Ecology Congress.
