26.01.2024
MINSK, 26 January (BelTA) – The Roscosmos cosmonaut, Belarus’ native Oleg Novitsky has released a video to congratulate scientists on Belarusian Science Day, which is celebrated on the last Sunday of January, BelTA has learned.

Oleg Novitsky said: “Nowadays Belarus can be called a space power with confidence. The country has the necessary competences for creating high-precision equipment for the remote sensing of Earth. A Belarusian space system for the remote sensing of Earth and a national satellite communication and broadcasting system have been created and operate successfully. Four Belarusian spacecraft are in orbit [the Belarusian satellite BKA, the communication satellite Belintersat-1, and two educational nanosatellites of Belarusian State University]. A Belarusian woman is getting ready for a flight to the International Space Station.”

The cosmonaut noted that the development of the space industry allows Belarus to promptly provide space data to users, develop science-intensive, sophisticated manufacturing in this sphere, and attract young people. “All of it would have been impossible without fundamental and applied research in the sphere of space activities. This is why allow me to wish new discoveries, the realization of the most daring plans, and the implementation of cutting-edge scientific technologies in practice to representatives of Belarus’ scientific community. Today it is science and technologies that drive the development of national economies as never before. I wish good health, happiness, prosperity, and inexhaustible energy to you and your loved ones,” the cosmonaut added.

BelTA reported earlier that the manned spacecraft Soyuz MS-25 is scheduled to fly to the International Space Station (ISS) in March. The crew will include Belarus’ Marina Vasilevskaya (Anastasia Lenkova as backup), the Roscosmos cosmonaut Oleg Novitsky, and the NASA astronaut Tracy Dyson.
