In 2013 the volume of software developed by resident companies of the Hi-Tech Park and assimilated by Belarusian enterprises and organizations rose by 70% to reach Br710 billion, BelTA learned from HTP Administration Director Valery Tsepkalo on 11 March.
The executive remarked that HTP residents had accomplished nearly 9,000 projects for Belarusian customers. Last year the share of the domestic market for projects of Belarusian developers totaled 15%.
According to the source, in 2013 as much as $446.7 million worth of software was exported, 35% up from 2012. Software development rose by 40% from 2012 to reach Br4.7 trillion.
HTP resident companies catered to customers from 57 countries across the globe. HTP residents can successfully compete on the high-tech markets of North America and Western Europe, in Russia, Finland, Israel, Netherlands, and Denmark. Europe accounted for 44% of the exported software, the USA 40%, the CIS 14%, and Asia 2%, said Valery Tsepkalo.
He remarked that the production growth had been fueled by higher labor productivity in addition to the higher number of employees. In 2013 as many as 3,000 jobs were created in the Hi-Tech Park, with the total number of jobs now at 18,000. While the number of personnel employed by HTP resident companies rose by 20%, their output soared by 40%.
In 2013 as many as 20 legal persons became residents of the Hi-Tech Park, including 13 companies founded with assistance of foreign investors. At present the HTP is home to 140 resident companies, including 64 ones created by Belarusian investors, 74 ones created with assistance of foreign investors, and 40 ones wholly owned by foreign investors.
