Digital visas for Belarus under consideration

04.04.2013
The Hi-Tech Park and the Belarusian Foreign Ministry are discussing the possibility of introducing digital visas. The information was released by Mr Valery Tsepkalo, Director of the Hi-Tech Park Administration, at the roundtable session held on 4 April to discuss the assimilation of information technologies in Belarus, BelTA has learned.

The Hi-Tech Park has suggested introducing digital visas for foreigners to the Foreign Ministry. “It is a topical technology for Belarus because a small country cannot cover the entire world with embassies,” explained the Hi-Tech Park Administration head. By introducing digital visas Belarus will considerably facilitate visa procedures for foreigners, who plan to visit the republic. By the way, countries such as Singapore and the United Arab Emirates have introduced digital visas earlier.

Belarusian developers have the capacity to create digital visas. “We have demonstrated that our IT companies are able to handle the job,” assured Valery Tsepkalo.

He also remarked that a software engineering school had evolved in Belarus, companies had been created, which are able to fulfill projects for any exacting customer. Today it is time to rework business processes and carry out an administrative reform for the sake of the country’s computerization.
