Search requests for Darya Domracheva from Belarus soared more than 30 times on 17 February when the biathlete claimed her third straight Olympic gold in Sochi, BelTA learnt from Yandex Company press service.
“Over the past few days Darya Domracheva has become one of the most popular persons in Bynet. The three-time Olympic champion was second most frequently entered word in Yandex from Belarus, surpassed only by requests for the Winter Olympics overall medal table,” the company said.
According to the press service, Internet users from Belarus were mostly interested in athlete's photos and biography. Many used the search engine to get additional information on her Hero of Belarus title. Internet users also searched information on the athlete’s third gold medal and the relevant information in Wikipedia.
Darya Domracheva is a three-time Olympic champion. After the golden finishes in the 12.5km pursuit and the 15km individual, she became the best in the 12.5km mass start on 17 February. The third consecutive triumph of the athlete who was awarded the Hero of Belarus title, took Belarus to the 7th position in the Olympics medal table. Belarus has so far won six medals at the 2014 Olympics: five golds (Darya Domracheva, Alla Tsuper, Anton Kushnir) and one bronze (Nadezhda Skardino).
