Energy-effective technologies identified as key avenue of development of Belarus' power industry

MINSK, 27 April (BelTA) – The use of energy-effective technologies is the key avenue of development of Belarus' power engineering industry. Aleksandr Lobazhevich, director of the Belarusian state power engineering research institute BelTEI, mentioned it during the press conference held in BelTA's press center to discuss the creation of mechanisms of Belarusian-Russian cooperation for the sake of enhancing the potential for energy effectiveness and resource saving.

Aleksandr Lobazhevich said: “The use of energy-effective technologies is the key avenue of development of Belarus' power engineering industry. It will allow accomplishing a number of tasks. The first one is enhancing the competitive ability of the products we make. The second one is reducing harmful emissions into the atmosphere. The third one is raising the quality of life.”

The official said that for the sake of assimilating innovative solutions into the country's energy industry BelTEI specialists had come up with a concept for using energy accumulation systems based on lithium-ion accumulators. Such accumulation systems can resolve a number of problems currently afflicting the energy industry. In particular, the smoothing out of the daily energy consumption curve, improving the quality and reliability of power supply to consumers. “We believe that the future development of Belarus' power industry should rely on the energy accumulation systems,” Aleksandr Lobazhevich stressed.

According to the source, the contest Energy Effectiveness Leader 2023 is a demonstrative platform for sharing the best practices and introducing cutting-edge technologies by Belarusian enterprises.

Applications for participation in the 9th national contest in the sphere of energy effectiveness, resource saving, and environmental friendliness Belarus Energy Effectiveness Leader 2023 can be submitted from 1 May through 30 September. The contest has been organized for the enterprises that make a significant contribution to the development of their region and have a potential for leadership in the sphere of energy and resource saving.

The contest is subdivided into several groups and nominations Enterprise of the Year, Product of the Year, and Project of the Year. The contest is designed to identify and popularize effective practices in the sphere of energy and resource saving, promote energy and resource-effective environmentally friendly technologies, solutions, and equipment on the Belarusian market and foreign ones. The award ceremony is traditionally scheduled for World Energy Saving Day – 11 November.
