Gansu industrial potential to be displayed in Grodno

The first exhibition of industrial goods from Gansu Province, China will be held in Grodno on 23-24 August, BelTA learnt from the Grodno Office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The industrial potential of the Chinese province will be presented by nearly 50 companies. Among them will be agricultural and mechanical engineering producers, representatives of the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Partaking in the exhibition will be also Chinese trading companies.

The event is held with a view to showcase the industrial potential of Gansu Province, establish ties with Grodno Oblast and organize trading channels. It will be the first exhibition of Chinese producers in Grodno.

According to the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the event will be of interest to businessmen, agricultural and industrial companies, trading organizations and sole traders.

The agreement to organize the exhibition was reached during the visit of a delegation from Gansu Province to Grodno Oblast in late June 2014. The parties are also considering a possibility of organizing a similar event in the Chinese province with the participation of Belarusian producers.

Gansu Province is located in the central part of the People’s Republic of China. Its population is about 26 million people. The province has a well-developed petrochemical industry, alternative energy (hydro and wind power plants), non-ferrous metallurgy, agricultural engineering industry.

Gansu is crossed by the ancient Silk Road.

China is fifth in the Grodno Oblast foreign trade. In January-May 2014 the trade turnover made up $64.4 million, with exports reaching $38.6 million and imports totaling $25.8 million. In January 2014 the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee and the Chinese province Gansu signed a memorandum of strengthening economic and trade cooperation.
