The German company LTV has plans to install a biogas unit at a dairy farm in Smorgon District, BelTA learned from the economy committee of the Smorgon District Executive Committee.

At the international investment forum that took place in Smorgon on 24 October on the sidelines of the 5th regional exhibition-fair Grodno Oblast's Northern Vector, the Smorgon District Executive Committee signed two protocols of intentions designed to promote all-round cooperation in manufacturing and alternative energy and to implement joint investment projects. The partners of local manufacturers will include the German company LTV and the Slovak company OMOSS spol.s r.o.

The economy committee informed that the German company would like to take part in the project to install a biogas unit at one of dairy farms of the Smorgonsky collective farm. The project had been discussed earlier, but it was suspended. Later a decision was made to update technical specifications and elaborate the details of the project. The timeline of the investment project has not been unveiled. Representatives of the German company met with top managers of Smorgon Aggregate Plant and Smorgon Optical Machine-Tools Plant to discuss cooperation prospects.

The Slovak company OMOSS has already started working on the establishment of a joint venture to produce wooden boards and structures for the construction industry in Smorgon District. The foreign company Artstav has been registered.

The exhibition-fair Grodno Oblast's Northern Vector is meant to establish mutually beneficial trade and economic ties, bolster and expand cultural, humanitarian, business contacts, demonstrate and promote the latest products. The expo is expected to help increase Belarus' export, implement joint projects, and attract foreign investments into the regional economy. Over 60 companies from three northern districts of Grodno Oblast (Smorgon District, Oshmyany District and Ostrovets District) took part in the economic forum. The diplomatic missions of Poland, Lithuania, Russia, Vietnam, Venezuela, Czechia, Slovenia, Germany, and Moldova attended the forum, too.
