10.02.2016
The Republic of Korea sees great prospects for cooperation with Belarus in the area of information technologies. The statement was made by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Belarus Yang Joong-Mo during the event held in the House of Friendship to mark the 24th anniversary of the establishment of Belarusian-Korean diplomatic relations, BelTA has learned.

The diplomat stressed the importance of the fact that during this period Belarus and the Republic of Korea have been advancing cooperation across the board. Apart from that, new opportunities for cooperation are constantly sought. “As an ambassador I am pleased with the fact that the bilateral relations are advancing virtually in all areas. At the same time the potential of our interstate interaction has yet to reach the desired level,” said Yang Joong-Mo. “We should analyze accomplishments and shortcomings in the period of our mutual relations and unite efforts in order to more rapidly advance cooperation.”

The Ambassador assured that the diplomatic mission will exercise proper efforts to secure larger accomplishments in cooperation in areas like in information technologies.

In turn, Belarusian First Deputy Information Technologies and Communications Minister Dmitry Shedko remarked that cooperation with the Republic of Korea is very important for Belarus. Informatization has become one of the avenues of cooperation since Korea has been the leader in this field for many years. A Belarusian-Korean information access center has been opened in the Hi-Tech Park. Negotiations are underway to set up a Belarusian-Korean center for cooperation in the sphere of information technologies. A number of Belarusian-Korean research projects in the area of informatization have been implemented in the last few years in tight association with the National Information Society Agency (NISA) of the Republic of Korea, with the Korea Information Society Development Institute and a number of Korean companies.
