The Belarusian science is a profitable sector, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov told media at the opening of an exhibition featuring the achievements of the Belarusian academic science on 3 September, BelTA informs.
“Funds invested in science bring results. The lowest cost recovery is revenue in 3-5 rubles per one ruble of expenditure. There are results of 20 and more rubles per one ruble of expenses. Budgetary funds make one fifth of what the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) needs. The rest the science should earn itself. Today the NASB makes profit. This organization brings results. Investment in science is always profitable, cost-effective and efficient. This tendency can be seen both in Belarus and all over the world,” said Vladimir Gusakov.
In his words, international consumers show interest in projects of Belarusian scientific institutes. “Today the Heat and Mass Transfer Institute produces glass for the Chinese space industry. There are orders from Saudi Arabia and the United States,” said the Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. For instance, American scientists are interested in Belarusian projects in the area of nuclear research and nanotechnologies, as well as in personnel training. On the whole, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus maintains relations with scientific communities and organizations from 90 countries.
The Belarusian science is ready to offer a number of new projects to both national and foreign users. According to Vladimir Gusakov, these projects concern the nuclear and biotechnologies sector, IT, robotics technology, remote-controlled operations and earth sounding.
