MINSK, 1 September (BelTA) – The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) always supports talented young researchers, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov said at a solemn event to mark the start of the new academic year at the University of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Academy of Sciences.
“The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is the largest scientific center of our country, where research is carried out in the widest range of areas. It is a research and production corporation employing about 15,000 specialists. Every year NASB scientific organizations employ up to 300 graduates. Today the Academy of Sciences has all the necessary conditions for successful scientific activity,” Vladimir Gusakov said.
Theoretical and practical training is carried out in scientific laboratories. Scientific supervisors are the country's leading scientists. Master's degree program graduates can continue their studies in postgraduate studies and work in scientific organizations. “Opportunities are many for active participation of young scientists in various projects and grants. The 100 Ideas for Belarus, 100 Young Talents of NASB and other contests are held on an annual basis. The most gifted young people get the President's scholarship,” the NASB chairman stressed.
Speaking about the Academy's principles in training young scientists, Vladimir Gusakov emphasized that talented young researchers always find support in their endeavors. “I want to urge you not to waste time and actively engage in scientific research. I wish you stay committed to your choice, which is the Academy of Sciences,” he added.
The Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus hosted a solemn event to mark Knowledge Day on 1 September. The event was attended by the heads of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, members of the Bureau of the NASB Presidium, heads of scientific organizations of the Academy of Sciences, Belarusian outstanding scientists, master's degree students of the University of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, their relatives and friends. The first classes for master's degree students were held at the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library of the National Academy of Sciences.
Some 150 master's degree students (including foreigners) will be studying at the University of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in the 2023/2024 academic year. This year's applicants were most interested in the following specialties: biology, art history, economics, physics, chemistry, sociology, and law. The enrolled master's degree students come from all corners of Belarus.
